■ <br />Recommendation : Provide a central information base for decision - <br />making. <br />Action Strategy: <br />A. Create ajointly- funded, county -wide intergovernmental Data Center for the <br />purpose of collecting and analyzing data in the following areas: <br />• Economy <br />• Environment <br />• Human Services <br />• Education <br />• Local Government and School Finance <br />• Transportation <br />Such an agency should be supported by all Orange County governments and <br />jurisdictional agencies. Information from the data center would be available to all <br />agencies, organizations and individuals. <br />The Data Center could serve as a center for compilation and dissemination of <br />information <br />collected from various local and state offices and other organizations. A listing and <br />description of all available data could be made available on the internet, along with <br />actual data wherever feasible. The State Center for Geographic Information and <br />Analysis is an example of an existing data center at the state level. <br />31 <br />
