A public meeting was held on
February 2, 1988 for the purposes of presenting background
data and distributing questionnaires on community
preferences. A final public meeting was held to present
alternative plans on March 9, 1988. A quorum of the
Hillsborough TAC was not present at the May 3 Joint
Hillsborough/Eno TAC meeting so no recommendation is made at
this time.
The text of the Draft Plan is greatly expanded over the
existing Hillsborough Township Plan. New sections on housing
stock, cultural and natural resources, existing land use.
acreages and development trends have been added. The section
on development trends documents subdivision activity (483 new
lots since 1981), the influence of I-~0 and the influence of
Durham. The section on circulation is expanded to place more
emphasis of travel patterns and traffic volumes on major
roads, while the land use distribution section documents the
expansion of the Hillsborough water system. Population
projections are revised upward. The 198]. Plan projected a
population of 11,100 in the year 2000, up from a 8.599 in
-, -mil
