_ , ---- <br />~. <br />DATE: 1/12/98 <br />MEMO TO: County Landfill Owners Group Representatives <br />FROM: John Link, County Manager <br />RE: Mixed Waste Disposal Options <br />Background <br />Of the estimated 90,000 tons of waste delivered each year to the Orange Regional <br />Landfill for disposal, 57,000 tons is estimated to consist of mixed waste (non-C&D). <br />Current projections indicate that the Orange Regional Landfill will reach capacity in the <br />year 2005. <br />Given the recent developments related to the preferred candidate landfill site (OC-17), <br />four main options to be considered for future disposal needs have been identified and <br />are summarized below. <br />Weston developed an "Evaluation of Disposal Options" report for the LOG in 1995 for <br />mixed waste disposal. A memorandum from Gayle Wilson to John Link ("Response to <br />Question on Development of Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility", <br />November 13, 1997) presents additional details regarding the transfer station <br />management option (copy attached) . <br />OPTION IMPLICATIONS <br />Out-of-County Disposal <br />1.
