4 <br />SAMPLE PROJECTS <br />The following are some examples of recently funded HPF projects: <br />* Second and final phase of a comprehensive county architectural survey in a previously <br />unrecorded area. Project will add 350 additional properties to the inventory and provide the <br />basis for local preservation planning. ($15,000 non-CLG grant) <br />* Updates of 1970s surveys to help establish a planned preservation strategy for an azea <br />subject to extreme development pressure. Work will include approximately 10,000 <br />structures in municipal neighborhoods, county communities, and rural azeas. ($10,000 <br />CLG grant) <br />* Preparation of a National Register Historic District nomination for approximately 150 <br />properties in a mid-19th and early 20th century residential neighborhood threatened by <br />university expansion, student housing, and parking needs. ($4,000 CLG grant) <br />* Completion of exterior restoration of the oldest frame house in Western North Carolina to <br />allow public access and encourage interior restoration. ($10,000 CLG grant) <br />* Archaeological reconnaissance survey of 800 acres of an 18th century land grant, including <br />agricultural lands, pasture and woodlands, and residential tracts, to determine outbuilding <br />locations and seazch for a grist mill.
