Sandler, has been a faculty member of the UNC School of Dentistry. Up <br />to now, the School of Dentistry has not sought reimbursement for the service Dr. Sandler has provided as <br />Dental Director on a one day per week basis. However, the school now requires reimbursement for the <br />services of Dr. Sandler as other faculty are reimbursed for their services. Since the Health Department <br />contracts with the School of Medicine for the Medical Director, it would be consistent for the Department to <br />pay the School of Dentistry for the Dental Director. <br />The School is requesting the same rate that the Health Depaztment pays other dental faculty who aze <br />attending Dental Residents, $200 per day at 50 days per yeaz. This amounts to $10,000 on an annual basis. <br />Because the County can only contract for a period ending in the current fiscal yeaz, the attached contract <br />requests $5,000 for the period January 1, 1998 through June 30, 1998, to be renewed annually thereafter. <br />The current fiscal yeaz contract will be covered through Medicaid funds and FY 98-99 will be covered <br />through a reallocation of existing funds. <br />This contract was endorsed by the Orange County Board of Health at its meeting on December 18, 1997. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Boazd approve a contract with the <br />UNC School of Dentistry for the Dental Director from January 1, 1998 through June 30, 1998 in the amount <br />of $5,000 and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
