Floor Area for Existing Non - residential Uses in Residential Districts <br />Proposed amendment to Article 5.1.2 Schedule for Non - residential Development to increase <br />the maximum floor area allowed for additions to existing non - residential uses in the AR, <br />RB, R -1, R -2, R -3, and R-4 districts from 8.8 percent, 10 percent, and 12.3 percent to 14.1 <br />percent. <br />CLASS A SPECIAL USE PERMIT <br />1. PD -1 -98 Carolina Friends School (Modification) <br />Carolina Friends School is an existing private school located in the Rural Buffer Zoning <br />District on the north side of Mt. Sinai Road west of Friends School Road, with access <br />provided by Friends School Road. The property contains about 38.62 acres and is known as <br />Tax map lots 20A, 20B and 26A of Tax Map 7, and lots 2 and 43A of Tax Map 6, in Chapel <br />Hill Township. The school currently operates under a Class A Special Use Permit due to the <br />type and size of the sewage disposal system and the use of multiple principal structures. <br />The Special Use Permit was originally issued in 1990 and was modified in 1992, 1993, <br />1996, and 1997. The proposed modification is for a master plan to expand the school <br />including a new entrance on Friends School Road, athletic fields, and 50,450 square feet of <br />floor area in a meeting house, multi - purpose center, and additions to existing buildings. <br />The specific text amendments proposed as described in this notice are available for public <br />inspection at the Orange County Planning Department. <br />All interested citizens are invited to attend this hearing and be heard. Public comment will be <br />received during the public hearing.
