E. <br />PRESERVATION PROGRESS PEOPLE <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Orange County Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Ted Abernathy, Director, Economic Development Co 'ssion <br />DATE: January 14, 1998 <br />RE: Goals and Objectives <br />In response to Margaret Brown's January 2, 1998, memo, the Economic Development <br />Commission discussed its goals and objectives for 1998 at its January 8, 1998, meeting. <br />The EDC Board's retreat is planned for March, 1998. Prioritizing existing goals and identifying <br />new goals will be a major component of the retreat. New goals and priorities may develop from <br />activities at the retreat. The EDC's high priority goals are identified below in the order in which <br />they were discussed on January 8, 1998; each is currently a BOCC goal. <br />1. Goal: To develop a loan pool to provide alternative financing for small businesses in <br />Orange County. <br />2. Goal: To explore the issue of rnlnority/female business development and procurement <br />participation. <br />3. Goal: Application and refinement of Economic Development Districts (EDDs). <br />After the EDC retreat, we will provide any additional goals that the EDC board develops.
