Services will be provided with grant funding from the NC <br />Department of Correction, Criminal Justice Partnership Program. The grant award for these services <br />was accepted by the Board at the December 1, 1997 meeting. <br />BACKGROUND: Since the program's development in 1995, Orange-Chatham Alternative <br />Sentencing has operated the pre-trial release program for Orange and Chatham Counties. This <br />program, designed to address jail overcrowding, is an integral part of the 15-B judicial district. The <br />program staff works cooperatively with the Sheriff s Departments, Probation and Parole, District <br />Attorney, Public Defender, and other members of the criminal justice system. <br />The day reporting center is a new program also developed by the Orange-Chatham CJPP Advisory <br />Boazd.
