Resolution Honoring Marvin Collins <br />Whereas, Marvin Collins has served as Orange County Planning Director for over 15 <br />years and has a distinguished record of almost 30 years of outstanding <br />public service in local government planning. <br />Whereas, Marvin Collins has brought great dedication, creativity and vision to Orange <br />County's planning program. <br />Whereas, Marvin Collins has made many innovative and significant contributions to <br />planning in .Orange County including: <br />^ Work on joint planning with Chapel Hill and Carrboro leading to creation <br />of the Joint Planning Area Land Use Plan and Rural Buffer. <br />^ Guiding the development of watershed standards to protect the quality <br />of our water resources. <br />^ Working with Randall Arendt, noted open space expert, to develop an <br />open space design guidebook which has been distributed statewide to <br />all 100 counties. <br />^ Analysis and support for development of public school impact fees. <br />^ Development of the historic preservation element of the County's <br />comprehensive plan, the first County-wide historic preservation plan in <br />the State. <br />Whereas, Marvin Collins has built a highly professional and effective Planning <br />Department for Orange County. <br />Whereas, Orange County has benefited significantly and in many ways from Marvin <br />Collins' hard work, dedication and integrity. <br />Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />does hereby honor Marvin Collins and express its appreciation for his service and <br />contributions to tQhe~citiz ns of Orange County.
