John Link <br />County Manager <br />Orange County <br />PO Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Dear Mr. Link: <br />17 <br />TOWN OF CARRBORO ATTACHMENT) <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />January 21, 1998 <br />RE: JOINT PLANNING <br />Last night, the Carrboro Board of Aldermen discussed Joint Planning Amendments needed to <br />implement the "Facilitated Small Area Plan for Carrboro's Northern Study Area" (enclosed). The <br />amendments requiring action by Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Orange County are described in the <br />two attached resolutions entitled "Joint Planning Agreement Amendment" and "Resolution <br />Amending the Joint Planning Area Land Use Plan ". <br />The first resolution basically requests an amendment to the "JPA Agreement" to delete the <br />reference to the division of Carrboro's Transition Area into transition area I and H and provides a <br />process to allow Carrboro to approve a floating conditional use district under the ordinance <br />administration provisions of the "JPA Agreement ". The second resolution amends the JPA Land <br />Use Plan by incorporating the "Facilitated Small Area Plan for Carrboro's Northern Study Area" <br />by reference into the JPA Land Use Plan. The second resolution also amends the JPA Land Use <br />Plan by removing references to the Transition Area II. <br />As a result of their discussion the Carrboro Board of Aldermen voted to endorse the attached <br />resolutions and requested that Orange County process the amendments for the April 8, 1998 joint <br />public hearing as provided for in the resolutions. <br />Thank you for your consideration of the Carrboro Board of Aldermen's request. <br />Sincerely, <br />/Robert W.
