PUBLIC HEAL TH MONTH PROCLAMATION <br />APRIL 7, 1998 <br />Whereas, Governor Hunt has proclaimed April as Public Health Month in <br />North Carolina; and <br />Whereas, Promoting the health and well -being of all residents of Orange <br />County is paramount; and <br />Whereas, Controlling and eliminating communicable diseases are necessary <br />to ensure that our communities are healthy places in which to live; <br />and <br />Whereas, Protecting residents by safeguarding water and food supplies and <br />monitoring waste discharge systems is critical for environmental <br />and personal health; and <br />Whereas, Encouraging healthy lifestyle behaviors assures optimal quality of <br />life and improved health status; and <br />Whereas, Ensuring the optimal growth and development for all Orange <br />County children is vital for the future of our communities; and <br />Whereas, Public Health contributes to the prosperity of Orange County <br />residents by promoting health, preventing disease, and protecting <br />the environment, everyday, every where, and for everybody <br />regardless of religious, ethnic or socioeconomic background; <br />Therefore, We hereby proclaim April, 1998 as PUBLIC HEALTH MONTH <br />in Orange County. <br />Margaret Brown, Chair <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />
