Ext. 2252 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 967-9251 <br />Durham - 688-7331 <br />Mebane - 227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To recognize and celebrate April, 1998 as Fair Housing Month. <br />BACKGROUND: April, 1998 marks the thirtieth anniversary of Title VIII of the Civil Rights <br />Act of 1968, an occasion traditionally recognized and observed by many of the citizens of Orange <br />County as Fair Housing Month. The Human Relations Commission again this year calls upon <br />the Orange County Board of Commissioners to officially proclaim April as FAIR HOUSING <br />MONTH. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the proposed <br />proclamation and authorize the Chair to sign it. <br />
