The purpose of the youth council is: <br />(a) to promote interaction among students from the three high schools; <br />(b) to coordinate activities and programs of interest to high school youth in the community; <br />(c) to obtain input from youth to address issues of concern; and <br />(d) to serve as a formal link between adults and youth in the county. <br />Since October 1997, students representing the three high schools have regulazly met to discuss and <br />plan efforts for the Youth Council. Approximately forty (40) students have attended at least one <br />group meeting. Officers have been elected including, a President; three Directors of Internal Affairs <br />(vice-presidents) -one representing each school; a Director of Records (secretary); Treasurer; and <br />Parliamentarian. In addition to the officers, the following committees have also been established: <br />Recreation, Community Affairs, Legislation, and Publicity. ' <br />Members of Youth Voices will provide an update on the group's progress to date and answer <br />questions. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the report as <br />information. <br />
