M M a C� U <br />NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 5 <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />A public hearing will be held in the Judge F. Gordon Battle Superior Courtroom of the New Orange <br />County Courthouse, 106 E. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough, North Carolina, on Tuesday, May 26, <br />1998, at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of giving all interested citizens an opportunity to speak for or <br />against the following items: <br />ORANGE COUNTY ZONING ATLAS AMENDMENTS <br />1. Z-1 -98 Wesley G. McAdams <br />The property is located in Bingham Township on the west side of Holly Hill Road, a private <br />road connecting Mt. Willing Road (SR 1120) and Oak Grove Church Road (SR 1117). The <br />subject 2.03 -acre (88,426 square feet) parcel is 850 feet north of the intersection with Oak <br />Grove Church Road. A rezoning from Agricultural Residential (AR) to Agricultural Service <br />(AS) is proposed. The subject property is referenced as part of lot I on Tax Map I . <br />2. Z-2 -98 Barney Pittman <br />The property is located in Cedar Grove Township 1083 feet east of NC Highway 86 North, <br />approximately 3100 feet north of the intersection of Lake Orange Road (SR 1323) and 3200 <br />feet south of the intersection of Bradsher Road (SR 1547). A change in zoning has been <br />requested for a 10 -acre parcel from Agricultural Residential (AR) to Agricultural Service <br />(AS). The subject property is referenced as lot 24A on Tax Map 37. <br />LOCAL HISTORIC LANDMARKS <br />In accordance with Article 3 of the Orange County Historic Preservation Ordinance, four (4) <br />draft ordinances designating the following local historic landmarks will be presented for public <br />comment. Each site is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places: <br />1. LHD -1 -98 Moorefields (National Register Site #0185) <br />Moorefields is located in Cheeks Township north of the northern end of Moorefields Road <br />(SR 1135) west of the intersection with Dimmocks Mill Road (SR 1134). The property is <br />referenced as Lot 3 on Tax Map 51. The Federal style two -story house was built circa 1785 <br />by Alfred Moore, a hero of the American Revolution, and the second North Carolinian <br />appointed to serve on the US Supreme Court. The site was listed on the National Register in <br />1972 and is currently maintained as a historic site for private and community functions. <br />2. LHD -2 -98 Bingham School (National Register Site #0513) <br />The Bingham School is located in Bingham Township at the Oaks Crossroads, specifically, <br />on the northeastern corner of NC Highway 54 West and Mebane Oaks Road (SR 1007). The <br />site is referenced as Lot 19 on Tax Map 17. (continued) <br />
