Also, to designate the week of May 10 through <br />16 as Senior Center Week, a time to recognize our local senior centers as <br />focal points for providing opportunities and services to our older citizens. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />For a number of years, Orange County Commissioners have issued an <br />Older Americans Month and Senior Center Week Proclamation. <br />Approximately 13,000 Orange County residents are sixty years of age <br />and older, with this population projected to increase to more than 14,000 <br />by the turn of the century. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Manager recommends that the Commissioners designate May as Older <br />Americans Month and May 10 through 16 as Senior Center Week in <br />Orange County and authorize Chair to sign proclamations. <br />FN:H\ABSTRAC1W506A.D0C <br />1 <br />
