A <br />day to honor our senior volunteers for their community <br />service contributions. Last yeaz 633 RSVP volunteers <br />provided 66,558 community service hours to over 100 non- <br />profit agencies throughout Orange County. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Orange County Commissioners have issued RSVP Day <br />proclamations several yeazs past for additional recognition <br />of the senior volunteers. RSVP, along with you and other <br />special guests, will honor the volunteers on May 18 at the <br />Annual RSVP Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. May be- <br />ing "Older Americans Month" makes it a special time to <br />recognize the senior volunteers. The RSVP also celebrates <br />it's 25th Year Serving Orange County. In addition, we are <br />celebrating along with federal and state governments 1998 <br />as The Year of the Volunteer". <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): <br />Manager recommends that the Commissioners designate <br />May 18 as RSVP Day in Orange County and authorizes the <br />Chair to sign the proclamation. <br />
