We have reviewed the information in the
reports and offer the following comments in accordance with
N.C.G.S. 160A-400.6.
All four properties are individually listed in the National
Register of Historic Places; and the National Register
nominations, which document the significance and integrity of
each property, serve as the designation reports.
We concur that the changes that have occurred since the
nominations were prepared have not been major and that each
property substantially retains integrity (intactness). All four
properties are excellent candidates for landmark designation and
are most worthy of the recognition and protection designation
will bring.
Two of the nominations are more that twenty years old, and while
they form good bases for designation reports, they do not contain
adequate information to constitute full, strong reports. Many
older nominations are sketchy in this respect and must be
supplemented for local designation purposes.
