Physician coverage is provided for clinics, for co-signing nurse <br />practitioner charts, plus the services of a Medical Director who is on-call for emergency consultations. The contract <br />with the School of Pharmacy is for $5,000, which is unchanged from the previous year. This contract is for the <br />services of a registered pharmacist to manage pharmacy protocols and provide advice to the clinical staff on patient <br />medications. There are three contracts with the School of Dentistry. One is for $10,000 for the services of the <br />Dental Director for FY98-99. The second contract is for $10,000 for this fiscal yeaz for a dental faculty to precept <br />and staff the Smart Start dental program, which is supported through the Orange County Partnership for Young <br />Children. The third is the pediatric dentistry contract for the services of a pediatric dental resident one day a week <br />at $25.00 per day for FY 98-99. These contract figures have been included as part of the 1998-99 budget request. <br />Recommendation: <br />The Manager recommends that the Boazd approve the contracts and authorize the Chair to sign the contracts, <br />contingent upon the adoption of the 1998-99 budget. <br />
