At that <br />meeting, the Board voted to approve an amendment to the Orange <br />County Personnel Ordinance to establish a living wage for the <br />employees of Orange County as County policy. The attached draft <br />Personnel Ordinance revision is provided to implement the Board's <br />decision as to the living wage for Orange County employees. <br />The attached Personnel Ordinance revision extends the $8.00 an hour <br />living wage to Orange County employees both permanent and <br />temporary. Currently the minimum hourly salary for a permanent <br />employee is $8.24 an hour. Thus the proposed Personnel Ordinance <br />revision would have no impact on permanent County employees. <br />As to temporary employees, there currently are about 30 temporary <br />County employees at salaries below $8.00 an hour. The proposed <br />Personnel Ordinance revision would cover temporary County <br />employees except for certain student learners. <br />
