Moore, Secretar,: <br />SUBJECT: GRANT AWARD <br />The Division of Emergency l~lanagement is pleased to offer year-end grant funds from the <br />Division's operating budget to eligible [veal emergency management agencies for uniform <br />enhancement of statewide capabilities. These fiends wilt be administered in the form of a one time <br />grant. Due to year-end time constraints, we have a very short window of opportunity to <br />administer and distribute these funds; therefore, the ,Division atust have your response in the <br />form of ti signed grant application by close of business Wednesday, June 10, 1998. <br />As the Division's goal in offering these funds is to enhance specific operarionai capabilities across <br />North Carolina, eligibility far these funds is contingent upon the Local emergency management <br />agency being in compliance with prior grant award requirements. Specifically, we are requiring <br />documentation to verify that each agency provided funding during 1997' for accessing Internet cast <br />actually access the Division's Internet web site and communicate via E-mail with the Division. <br />This communications linkage is critical to emergency management information sharing, especially <br />as we enter the 1998 humcane season. <br />Eligible county emergency management agencies which were rot offered funding earlier this year <br />to purchase a digital camera (up to $600) for planning and event documentation purposes are now <br />offered funds to develop this capability. Eligible local agencies are also offered funding for the <br />purchase of a Global Positioning System (GPS) Unit (up to $Z00) for emergency planning and <br />response coordination purposes. Fi~atty, all eligiblz jurisdictions are offered funding (estimated <br />at $1,476, but subject to increase depending upon acceptance of this offer by all counties) to <br />enhance local capabilities for stabilizing and managing ;lazardous materials emergencies (ie. <br />acquisition of coritairument booms, absorbent pads. technical or training materials or other items) <br />as approved in writing by your Branch Manager. <br />County Emergency Program Managers <br />
