The Kartway is a small race track that holds races <br />with go -carts, motor cycles, and legend cars (miniature race cars). The County provides coverage at the <br />basic life support level, using personnel furnished by South Orange EMS & Rescue Squad, Inc. <br />Coverage for the 1998 season is proposed under the same terms as the previous contract, with the <br />exception that reimbursement to the County will be at $35.00 per hour, per unit for each event. This <br />represents an increase of $5 per hour in the amount paid by the Kartway to the County for coverage in <br />1997. Coverage time includes preparation and travel to and from the event. Staff have met with Kartway <br />officials to review the terms of the renewal agreement. This agreement has worked well in the past and has <br />promoted public safety for citizens attending events at the Kartway. <br />Recommendation: <br />The Manager recommends that the Board approve the contract renewal and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
