The mac map
reference is: Cheeks Township - Map 41.114.
The comprehensive mM use plan idemifirs this tract as Public Imerest District. We propose
modifying the land use plan and zoning to Agricultural Residential consistent with the surromaing
zoning sad usage. This proposed annulment does ram change the intent aM purpose of the plan.
It is Duke University's invent to sell this land. Other than the fact that it is owned by Duke
University, there does not seem m he any other nvsoe that it was idmdfred in the small area plan
as Public Interest District. From Duke's perspective, this vast u not used for forest research, it
does not have any, strategic sigNficaoce to the forestry pro8mm at Duke and it does mt edJOln any
other Isads of Duke University. Marketing of the tract hat proven extremely difficult given iv
present zoning of Public iomrest District which prohibits any' residential uu.
