Concepts and
principles should be stressed rather than the mere acquisition of factual knowledge. A well
rounded high school graduate should have a knowledge and understanding of scientific principles,
including applied science; mathematics; American history, government, and economics; world
history, geography and cultures; at least one foreign language; and literature, the 4rts and the
humanities.
Character and Behavior Traits
• Being honest and having integrity
• Valuing effort, specifically the work ethic, and self- discipline
• Showing understanding and respect for differences among people -- an appreciation of
diversity
• Taking responsibility for one's own actions
• Showing respect for others and for authority
• Knowing and fulfilling the responsibilities of U.S. citizenship and having a sense of
responsibility for being a member of a global community
• Being able to civilly resolve disagreements
• Being adaptable and flexible
• Living a healthy lifestyle
• Setting goals for lifelong learning and personal development
