Draft <br />Title: _ Teacher Specialist <br />for content areas: Reading/ Language Arts, Mathematics, <br />Science andSocial Studies, Responsible Behavior, and <br />Staff Development <br />Qualifications: 1. Demonstrated content area expertise; Master's, preferred <br />2. Record of outstanding teaching performance with at least 5 years <br />experience <br />3. Demonstrated successful experience in leadership roles <br />4. Such alternatives as the Board deems appropriate and acceptable <br />Reports to: Principal <br />Job Goal: To provide leadership, coordination, and innovation in the assigned area <br />so that a sound educational program is available to all students. <br />Performance Responsibiliites: <br />1. Provides leadership and coordination in the designated content area. <br />2. Conveys to teachers the vision and mission of the school. Promotes application of the vision <br />and mission of the school in teaching practices in the content area. <br />3. Serves as a resource person for teachers in the content area. <br />4. Advises teachers on the selection and use of materials in the designated area which support <br />the mission and beliefs of the school. <br />5. Coordinates curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and revision in the <br />designated content area. Participates in the design of staff development for their content area. <br />6. Performs demonstration lessons with students in classroom situations for observation by <br />teachers, as appropriate. <br />7. Promotes the professional development of teachers. Observes classroom instruction and <br />conferences with teachers to provide feedback on instructional practices. <br />8. Maintains regular and frequent communications with teachers in their content area. <br />9. Attends meetings of the school's Leadership Team as necessary. <br />10. Performs other duties as requested and assigned. <br />Terms of Employment: A one year appointment, renewable for a second year. <br />Compensation: A $ 2,500 stipend is provided and <br />up to 5 days of release time during the school year and <br />up to 5 additional days of employment during the <br />summer at the per diem rate of pay <br />Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with <br />provisions of the Board's Evaluation Policy <br />Elementary School # 8: August 20,1998 <br />
