Pedersen
Bill Mullin ,i,~
Middle School #4
November 2, 1998
In preparation for the meeting with the County Commissioners on November 10,
attached is information concerning the schedule and planning for the fourth middle
school.
The schedule illustrates the time requirements for the completion of various project
components to open the school for the 2001-02 school year. It should be noted the
schedule stipulates a nine month town approval process beginning in January 1999.
During the nine month town approval process, design development drawings and
construction documents would also be finalized. The concurrent process of completing
drawings while receiving town approval will require the cooperation of town staff and
the full commitment of the design team. The project schedule also includes the pre-
grading of the site and stipulates its completion just prior to beginning building
construction. This aspect of the schedule will also require a close coordination
between all parties.
It is also important to realize that site selection must be finalized immediately. Further
uncertainties regarding the building's location will almost certainly delay the project.
The program data developed as a result of the meetings with the Design Committee is
summarized and compared to Orange County's New School Construction Standards.
The program data is compared to the County's Tier A and Tire B models. The current
middle school program is 9,221 square feet more than the Tier A model. The overage
