The recycling facility may be utilized during this 30 year <br />period. <br />Gayle Wilson, Director of Solid Waste Management for Chapel Hill, spoke <br />in favor of the proposal. <br />Ms. Inna Deng, a local property owner, spoke in opposition indicating the <br />landfill presented a fire hazard. <br />The Planning Staff recommends approval of the Special Use Permit <br />Modification per the findings (attached to these minutes on pages ) <br />and five conditions: <br />1. All vegetation within the 100 foot buffer shall remain undisturbed. A <br />waiver of the 100 foot buffer shall be provided along the property line <br />next to the existing landfill. <br />2. Yard waste, mulch and recyclables shall be kept in the designated area <br />as indicated on the June 8, 1998 revised site plan. Land within this <br />designated area not in use shall be seeded, repaired and maintained. <br />3. The maximum amount of recyclables for white appliances, tires and <br />scrap metal stored on the site at any one time shall not exceed 12 tons <br />of white appliances, 500 tires and 6 roll -offs for storage of scrap metal. <br />4. The expansion, as indicated on the revised June 8, 1998 site plan, shall <br />be limited to an area to be used for recycling glass and metal consisting <br />of a 7,500 square foot concrete slab, two open sheds (600 square feet <br />and 900 square feet), and 44,000 square feet of additional vehicular <br />graveled surface. <br />5. If any condition of this Special Use Permit shall be held invalid or <br />void, then this Special Use Permit shall be void in its entirety and of no <br />effect. <br />Article 8.6 and 8.8 - Application Components <br />MOTION: Searles moved agreement with Planning Staff findings.
