In July <br />1992, the County created the then new position of <br />Microcomputer Specialist to support this network. This was a <br />mainframe-oriented, stand alone network with about 100 <br />personal computers (PCs) all located in one County building. <br />Over the past several years, the County has evolved from a <br />mainframe-oriented installation with one user network to a client <br />server installation with servers in nine County buildings and <br />additional servers scheduled to be implemented in the near <br />future.
