I - - - General Assistance - Donations - donated funds totaling - $2,092 to -help with - special needs--- <br />clients; including sent s. <br />This budget amendment sets these donations aside in the department's special Adoption <br />Enhancement fund, outside of the General Fund. (See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />Sheriff Department <br />5. The Sheriff Department has been awarded funds from the U.S. Justice Department in the <br />amount of $55,062. In June 2000, the Sheriff Department entered into an agreement with <br />Justice Benefits, Inc. (JBI) to secure appropriate Federal financial assistance in recovering <br />federal funds that are due to counties who house federal inmates. Based on their work, <br />Orange County will receive $55,062 from the U.S. Department of Justice for the current fiscal <br />year. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds. (See Attachment 1, <br />column #5) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the budget and grant project ordinance amendments. <br />
