Orange County Personnel Rules and Regulations Manual Effective Date: 6/16/2010 6 <br />1. Service in the Uniformed Service. The performance of duty on a voluntary <br />or involuntary basis in a uniformed service including: <br />a. Active duty; <br />b. Active duty for training; <br />C. Initial active duty for training; <br />d . Inactive duty training; <br />e. Full -time National Guard; <br />f. Absence from work for an examination to determine a person's <br />fitness for any of the above types of duty; <br />g. Funeral honors duty performed by national Guard or reserve <br />members; <br />h. Duty performed by intermittent employees of the National Disaster <br />Medical System (NDMS), which is part of the Department of <br />Homeland Security — Emergency Preparedness and Response <br />Directorate (FEMA), when activated for a public health <br />emergency, and approved training to prepare for such services. <br />2. Uniformed Service. The Uniformed Services consist of the following: <br />a. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, or Coast Guard; <br />b. Army Reserve, Naval Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Air Force <br />Reserve, or Coast Guard Reserve; <br />C. Army National Guard or Air National Guard; <br />d. Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service; <br />e. Any other category of persons designated by the President in time <br />of war or emergency; <br />f. Civil Air Patrol (as provided in these Rules and Regulations); <br />g. State Militia (as provided in these Rules and Regulations); <br />B. Covered Employees. <br />All permanent, permanent part-time and provisional employees are <br />covered by these Rules and Regulations. <br />2. Temporary employees or those employees in pre - service positions that are <br />for brief, non - recurrent periods where there is no reasonable expectation <br />that employment will continue indefinitely or for a significant period of <br />time are not covered by these rules and regulations. <br />C. Leave Options. <br />Active and Inactive Duty Training. Leave with pay, shall be granted <br />for active and inactive duty training up to a maximum of 120 hours <br />each calendar year; pro -rated for part-time employees. <br />Issue Date: 6/16/2010 Page 2 <br />
