HOUSING REEIFIBILI~ITI0~7 CONTRACT S <br />Motion was made by Commissioner N+~rshall, seconded by Commissioner <br />Carey to approve four housing rehabilitation contracts for the Councilville <br />Community Development Area. <br />Dwelling Unit ~3 Gates Construction Company S 2,995.00 <br />Dwelling Unit #9 Gates Constntction Company $ 3,825.00 <br />Dwelling Unit X12 Samuel English Contractor ~ 5,955.00 <br />Dwelling Unit X27 Samuel ~glish Contractor ~ 1,581.00 <br />VOTE: UNANa'lWS. <br />12. a~ pROPOSAIS - SOIL CONSERVATION CE (See description narrative <br />in permanent agenda file.) <br />Kenneth Thompson explained that the proposal in the National <br />Administrations budget would severely curtail the SCS program in the County by <br />cutting their budget by two-thirds. <br />Chair Willhoit emphasized that this service plays a vital role in the <br />County and there should be a partnership between the local government and <br />higher levels of government. <br />Mata.on was made by Commissioner walker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Marshall to send the letter included in the agenda to the proper <br />representatives, including wncerns of the Board and emphasizing the importance <br />of the SCS program to the County. <br />Chair willhoit requested adding to the letter what this cut would <br />mean in the tax rate if SCS had to be funded locally. <br />Cotcutiissioner Walker withdrew his motion. <br />Commissioner Carey noted there. are other cuts which are equally <br />important which should also be addressed in the letter. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, sewnded by Commissioner <br />Lloyd to send the letter included in the agenda to the proper representatives <br />including concerns of the Board which emphasize the importance of the SCS <br />program to the County. <br />VOTE: L11~.NIMOUS. <br />13. TRANSPORTATION PIAI~]ING GRANT (Resolution recorded in full in the <br />minute book page `~~~ . ) <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded by Commissioner <br />Lloyd to approve the resolution authorizing sulnnission of the grant application <br />for a transportation planning grant up to 56,000 maximum from the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation. <br />VOTE: UN~NIlKOUS. <br />14.
