Foushee, and Commissioners Alice <br /> Gordon, Pam Hemminger, Barry Jacobs, Mike Nelson, Bernadette Pelissier, and Steve Yuhasz <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Frank Clifton and Clerk to the Board Donna S. <br /> Baker (All other staff inembers will be identified appropriately below). <br /> 1. Durham Technical Community College <br /> Orange County Schools <br /> Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools <br /> • Durham Tech <br /> Dr. Bill Ingram, President of Durham Technical Community College, thanked the County <br /> Commissioners and said that they appreciate the support in the past. He said that the budget for <br /> DTCC this year in Orange County reflects no increase. He discussed some of the programs that <br /> are offered at the Orange County Durham Tech campus. The campus just celebrated its second <br /> anniversary and it continues to have steady growth. This campus has served about 10,000 <br /> students in the past two years. In the coming year, there will be some significant new activity at <br /> this campus. He said that the newest credit program at Durham Tech will be housed at the <br /> Orange County Campus. This program will be Sustainable Technologies. This program will <br /> prepare students to install, repair, and monitor solar energy panels and also provide training in <br /> conducting energy audits. Last week, Durham Tech received a $250,000 grant from Duke <br /> Energy to provide equipment for this program. <br /> There will also be programs offered at the Orange County campus that prepare students <br /> for work in Health Technologies. Beginning in the fall, there will be a certificate program in <br /> Workplace Spanish Interpretation for Healthcare Professionals. There will also be a sign <br /> language program for individuals working in health care. There have been discussions with UNC <br /> Hospital about short-term and long-term needs as it develops a new facility in this community. <br /> The University Transfer program has also grown a lot. <br /> Dr. Ingram introduced Carlo Robustelli, who is the new Director for the Orange County <br /> Campus. <br /> He thanked the County Commissioners for their support. <br />
