subdivision. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of this program income <br />and allocates $153,937 for the above mentioned purpose. (See Attachment 1, Column <br />2) <br />Economic Development (Piedmont Food and Agricultural Processing Center Capital <br />Project Ordinance) <br />3. At its May 18, 2010 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved the <br />acceptance of an Economic Development Initiative grant of $237,500 from the U.S. <br />Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Piedmont Food and Agricultural <br />Processing Center. This budget amendment provides for these grant funds in the <br />attached capital project ordinance. (See Attachment 3, Piedmont Food and Agricultural <br />Processing Center Capital Project Ordinance) <br />Emergency Services Department <br />4. At its June 1, 2010 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved funds of up <br />to $220,000 from the Emergency Services Reserve Capital Project to the Emergency <br />Services Department for the purchase of one ambulance. This amendment provides for <br />the budgeting of these funds in the department's Fiscal Year 2009 -10 budget for the <br />above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column 3) <br />Technical Amendment <br />5. Technical amendments are needed to correct several budget entries made during the <br />fiscal year that were listed in the incorrect revenue categories within the attached budget <br />as amendment spreadsheet (Attachment 1). These corrections are needed in order to <br />agree with the budgeted amounts currently in our MUNIS business system. This budget <br />amendment provides for these technical amendment adjustments. (See Attachment 1, <br />column 4) <br />Department of Social Services <br />6. The Department of Social Services has received notification of the receipt of a $500 <br />grant award from the North Carolina Department of Insurance. The department plans <br />to use these funds to purchase bicycle helmets and materials to promote bicycle safety <br />for the Safe Kids Program. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these <br />funds for the above the stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column 5) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve budget and capital project ordinance amendments for Fiscal Year 2009 -10. <br />
