ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 15, 2010 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. �- <br />SUBJECT: Renewal of Agreements with In -Home Aide Providers to Provide In -Home Aide <br />Services to Eliqible Adults <br />DEPARTMENT: Social Services and Aging PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Sample Renewal of Agreements with <br />Attachments (There are five total <br />renewal agreements for In -Home Aides <br />that are the same.) <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Nancy Coston, 245 -2800 <br />Jerry Passmore, 245 -2009 <br />PURPOSE: To renew agreements to provide In -Home Aide Services with Arcadia Health <br />Services, Inc., Personalized Patient Home Assistance, Inc., CNC Access, Inc., Flaircare, Inc., <br />and TAMM, L.L.C. for eligible adults using joint agreements between the Department of Social <br />Services and the Department on Aging and the Contractor. <br />BACKGROUND: The Department of Social Services and Department on Aging provide In- <br />Home Aide Services to older and disabled adults. In -Home Aide involves the provision of <br />paraprofessional services that assist functionally impaired older or disabled adults and /or their <br />families with essential home management and personal care and /or supervision to enable the <br />adult to remain at home as long as possible. <br />In an effort to streamline the contracting and approval process, the Department of Social <br />Services and Department on Aging have developed a joint agreement template to use with In- <br />Home Aide Providers. The Departments contract with five providers to perform In -Home Aide <br />Services for clients. Conversations continue with providers to encourage them to pay a living <br />wage to employees. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Social Services has requested $415,647 for in -home services provided <br />by these five providers during next year's budget. This amount is the same as last year. <br />$207,824 of these costs will be paid with State and Federal dollars. <br />Aging has requested $50,000 for in -home services provided by these five providers. This is a <br />decrease of $70,000 from last year. These costs are County dollars. <br />
