Foushee, and Commissioners Alice <br /> 14 Gordon, Pam Hemminger, Barry Jacobs, Mike Nelson, Bernadette Pelissier, and Steve Yuhasz <br /> 15 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> 16 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: <br /> 17 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Frank Clifton and Clerk to the Board Donna S. <br /> 18 Baker(All other staff members will be identified appropriately below). <br /> 19 <br /> 20 <br /> 21 1. Durham Technical Community College <br /> 22 Orange County Schools <br /> 23 Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools <br /> 24 <br /> 25 • Durham Tech <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Dr. Bill Ingram, President of Durham Technical Community College, thanked the County <br /> 28 Commissioners and said that they appreciate the support in the past. He said that the budget <br /> 29 for DTCC this year in Orange County reflects no increase. He discussed some of the programs <br /> 30 that are offered at the Orange County Durham Tech campus. The campus just celebrated its <br /> 31 second anniversary and it continues to have steady growth. This campus has served about <br /> 32 10,000 students in the past two years. In the coming year, there will be some significant new <br /> 33 activity at this campus. He said that the newest credit program at Durham Tech will be housed <br /> 34 at the Orange County Campus. This program will be Sustainable Technologies. This program <br /> 35 will prepare students to install, repair, and monitor solar energy panels and also provide training <br /> 36 in conducting energy audits. Last week, Durham Tech received a $250,000 grant from Duke <br /> 37 Energy to provide equipment for this program. <br /> 38 There will also be programs offered at the Orange County campus that prepare students <br /> 39 for work in Health Technologies. Beginning in the fall, there will be a certificate program in <br /> 40 Workplace Spanish Interpretation for Healthcare Professionals. There will also be a sign <br /> 41 language program for individuals working in health care. There have been discussions with <br /> 42 UNC Hospital about short-term and long-term needs as it develops a new facility in this <br /> 43 community. The University Transfer program has also grown a lot. <br /> 44 Dr. Ingram introduced Carlo Robustelli, who is the new Director for the Orange County <br /> 45 Campus. <br /> 46 He thanked the County Commissioners for their support. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 <br /> 49 <br /> 50 <br />
