28 <br /> 1 Chair Foushee said that the County Commissioners could sign onto the letter of the <br /> 2 other school boards. All agreed. <br /> 3 Commissioner Jacobs said that there was a tour of the Bingham Animal research <br /> 4 center. There was a good opportunity to ask questions and walk the property. He said that it <br /> 5 seemed evident that the people put in charge of the facility are not the ones that have made <br /> 6 some of the unfortunate decisions that had adversely affected the environment or had resulted <br /> 7 in bad planning. He was encouraged that there was a different consciousness and intent to do <br /> 8 things right, follow state and local rules, work with the neighbors, and try and minimize the <br /> 9 impacts on neighbors. <br /> 10 Commissioner Jacobs said that he found out this week at a meeting of the Sportsplex <br /> 11 Advisory Committee that last year some veterans groups requested that the Sportsplex <br /> 12 consider a discount for veterans. The Sportsplex has now adopted a 30% discount for any <br /> 13 veteran and this has not been publicized. He asked that this be publicized. <br /> 14 Commissioner Yuhasz thanked the Manager for bringing a budget with no tax increase. <br /> 15 Chair Foushee said that she heard at the Social Services Board meeting yesterday that <br /> 16 the subsidized employment program has placed 24 individuals, 15 of which are Work First <br /> 17 individuals and 9 of those are people that are 200% of the poverty level. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 13. Closed Session <br /> 26 A motion was made by Commissioner Pelissier, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> 27 go into closed session at 10:28 p.m. for the purpose of: <br /> 28 <br /> 29 "Pursuant to G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(3) "to consult with an attomey retained by the Board in order <br /> 30 to preserve the attorney-client privilege between the attorney and the Board." <br /> 31 <br /> 32 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 33 <br /> 34 RECONVENE INTO OPEN SESSION <br /> 35 <br /> 36 A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Yuhasz to <br /> 37 reconvene into open session at 11:00 p.m. <br /> 38 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 39 <br /> 40 15.
