Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass <br />explained to the Board that the inspection took place at the time the jail was <br />being cleaned and the jail had not been fully cleaned. On October 9, iir. <br />Thomas A. Ritter, Elead Jail and Detention, noted the jail to be extremely clean <br />and well oraani7ed. <br />G. I~~MB FOR b~~j~IOt? <br />~-,79_~gA oAxs„~&i7~~yS$1I~~._1~OLE <br />Approved above under item "E". <br />TI~Ii At~D PAY $EPORT RECO1di <br />I:enneth Thompson, County Manager, requested: (1) the adoption of an <br />updated Classification and Pay Plan for all management postions, and (2) the <br />step placement within the new salary range assigned. <br />Commissioner 47illhoit noted that the cost impact so far with the <br />Institute of Government and the Department of Human Resources recommendation is <br />5200,559. The revision adopted on October 3 by the Board added 541,853. The <br />current pay rate policy states that when a position is reclassified to a higher <br />salary grade, the incumbent salary is set at step 1 of the new grade assigned <br />or is set at a step within that grade that provides a 5~ increase in pay <br />-. whichever is higher. The proposed pay rate policy states that when a position <br />is reclassified to a higher salary grade the incumbent's salary is set in the <br />new grade at the current step, ,implementation would cost an additional <br />$135,626. The cost of implementing the classification and pay recommendations <br />for all positions assigned to salary grade 66 and below is 5168,317. The cost <br />of implementing the Classification and pay recommendations for all positions <br />_ assigned to a salary grade of 67 and above is 574,095. <br />Commissioner P•Iarshall suggested merit increases might be used to help <br />- alleviate some of the inequities. <br />Chair T^Iillhoit noted that if there are inequities the Caunty i3anager <br />should bring back recommendations to the Board with identified sources of <br />funds. <br />
