Fikes, Z~S-2494 <br />PURPOSE: To award a housing rehabilitation contract for the Orange Gounty HOME <br />Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation Program. <br />BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from <br />qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's I-lousing Rehabilitation <br />Program according to the prepared work specifications. <br />The informal biddin process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues X43-~3 and <br />g <br />does not require a minimum number of bids. Additionally, present program procedures provide <br />that housin rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. However, the <br />g <br />lowest bidder has notified the County of their unavailability to complete this job due to the <br />relocation of the business out~of-state. Therefore, the next lowest responsible bidder is <br />recommended for approval. Additionally, all contractors participating ~ in the County's <br />Rehabilitation Program are required to utilize current deconstruction and material recycling <br />methods during the repair process. <br />Bids were solicited on .May 3 ~, 244?' and June 9, 200?' with a bid opening on June 24, 2401. <br />Bid results are attached. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Grange County HGME Investment Partnership Program provides <br />funding for this program. <br />RECOMMENDATION~S~: The Manager recommends that the Board award the following <br />housing rehabilitation contracts: <br />Dwellin Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br />445 S lit Rail Lane, Hillsborough $25,394 William Long Construction <br />p <br />
