Commissioner Jacobs thanked Lori Taft for the update on Fairview Park to the residents there. The park is proceeding on schedule and should be done by the end of August. Commissioner Jacobs congratulated Sheriff Pendergrass for winning the election for Sheriff.. He also congratulated Debbie Piscitelli, Donna Coffey, Anne Medenblick, and Brenda Stephens for being elected to the school board and Earl McKee for winning the Board of County Commissioners election. He also thanked the Democratic voters for expressing their confidence in his service and for giving him the opportunity to continue to serve. Chair Foushee - none 13. Closed Session A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Hemminger to approve going into closed session at 10:19 p.m. for the purposes of: "To discuss the County's position and to instruct the County Manager and County Attorney on the negotiating position regarding the terms of a contract to purchase real property," NCGS § 143-318.11(a)(5). "Pursuant to G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(3) "to consult with an attorney retained by the Board in order to preserve the attorney-client privilege between the attorney and the Board."
