R °9O •S ~ d U ~,~;~QRT 1~OR 198-~4 <br />Dana Baldwin, past Chair, introduced the members of the <br />- - Commission who were present, and highlighted the activities as contained in <br />the report: <br />(1) creation of an evening G1;A class for Drange Coun <br />citizens; <br />(2) participation in career awareness week in the Chapel <br />Hill/Carrboro Schools; <br />(3) monitoring progress in the implementation of the Orange. <br />County Affirmative action plan; <br />(4) learning about the JTFA; <br />(5) creation of the employment task zorce to study the benefit° <br />of Orange County employees and employee practices. <br />(5) coordinate information referrals with other Orange County <br />agencies; <br />(7) provided service to over 300 people through the office <br />information referral program. <br />Chair l~illhoit commended the Commission for women and the <br />services they offer to the citizens of Orange County. <br />3. $~SEARCH TRIANGLE PARK AND ENVIROPIS <br />Commissioner riarshall commented on the report and the two main <br />objectives as dis~ributed. The Land Use Advisory Committee spent several <br />months redefining its purpose and asked if there were .any questions about <br />their objectives as many developers seem to object to almost everything the <br />Board wants to do and the Research Triangle Par}: and Environs Report can <br />serve as a model for any government in t~rorking with uevelopers. JAIL tiTEDICAL_CDLITRACT (see the permanent agenda file for a copy <br />of this contract) <br />Thompson presented for consideration a contract with the Drange <br />County i•Tedical Center to provide medical services at the County jail. <br />I~fotion was made by Co^~missioner Irarshall, seconded by <br />-:.
