1~~
3
system for setting priorities. If an advisory group was set up, their
recommendations to the Department of Transportation would be considered.
Chair ~9illhoit pointed out the first step is to check the accuracy
of the data that the Department of Transportation is using to set the
priorities.
In reply to a r,uestion about why almost all the roads in Chapel
Hill have been paved. Commissioner Marshall explained that city tax money is
used for paving the roads within the city limits.
Chair ti~illhoit noted that an advisory .Board could look at the
Department of Transportation's data on all the roads and not just a few and
- consider all the variables that may change the priority and look into that
kind of process cahich could lead to more constructive answers.
Reverend Richardson supported the idea of looking at alternatives
so that all citizens have equity and felt an advisory board would help the
- citizens understand the process and encouraged a committee be set up
throughout the County.
There was Board consensus to establish a citzens advisory
committee on secondary roans.
2.
