Outside Agency Descriptions - continued <br />Orange County Partnership for Young Children * $0 • <br />The mission of the Partnership is to ensure that all young children arrive at school healthy and <br />ready to succeed. The Partnership serves as the administrator for the Smart Start Early <br />Childhood Initiative and the More at Four Program in Orange County. <br />Orange- Chatham Alternative Sentencing $70,000 <br />Orange- Chatham Alternative Sentencing (OCAS) provides critical information to the judiciary <br />and probations officers, magistrates, jailers, and other judicial officials so that they may make <br />more informed decisions regarding the rehabilitation or release of Pretrial inmates in the 15 -B <br />County Jails. <br />Orange - Chatham Chapter of the Autism Society of North Carolina * $0 <br />The primary focus of the organization is advocacy for individuals and families, and education of <br />the public about the needs of the autism community. <br />Piedmont Health Services $10,000 <br />Piedmont Health Services has served the health care needs of the citizens of central North <br />Carolina since 1970. They operate six community health centers and provide high quality, <br />comprehensive family health care services to all patients needing access to those services. To <br />meet their mission, they offer payment on a sliding fee scale for those who qualify. The agency <br />also provides bilingual care to a growing Spanish- speaking population. <br />Piedmont Wildlife Center $0 • <br />This agency's mission is to support native North American wildlife and its habitat through <br />rehabilitation, education, and scientific study, with emphasis given to wildlife and wilderness of <br />the North Carolina Piedmont. Piedmont Wildlife Center takes in sick, injured, and orphaned <br />native North American wildlife with the intent of returning them in a healthy condition to their <br />original habitat. Additionally, PWC teaches wildlife rehabilitation and restoration while stressing <br />the importance of preserving tracts of wilderness needed to support wildlife populations. <br />Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina $10,000 <br />Planned Parenthood of Orange and Durham Counties provides comprehensive reproductive <br />health care services along with educational programs that enhance understanding of human <br />sexuality. <br />Project TurnAround $35,000 <br />Project TurnAround (PTA) is a court diversionary program for first -time non - violent drug <br />offenders. Program participants receive twelve months intensive supervision, during which time <br />they are required to pay program fees and to be employed or in school, support themselves and <br />any dependents, participate in drug counseling, have no further criminal charges and be drug <br />free. At successful completion of the program, the court charges are dismissed. <br />Rape Crisis Center $25,000 <br />The Orange County Rape Crisis Center works to stop sexual violence and its impact through <br />support, education, and advocacy.
