Outside Agency Descriptions - continued <br />Inter -Faith Council for Social Service (IFC) $36,000 <br />• The IFC meets basic needs and helps individuals and families achieve their goals. They provide <br />shelter, food, direct services, advocacy and information to people in need. The IFC <br />accomplishes this through strong partnerships with volunteers, staff and those we serve. They <br />rely on the active involvement of caring individuals, congregations and other community <br />organizations. <br />Joint Orange - Chatham Community Action ( JOCCA) $60,000 <br />JOCCA provides services to very low- income families. and individuals with the goal of improving <br />their quality of every day life. JOCCA offers the following services (1) nutrition and aging; (2) <br />self - sufficiency services; (3) job training and employment; (4) community based assistance and <br />teen court for youth offenders; and (5) energy conservation /weatherization and heating <br />assistance. <br />KidSCope $75,000 <br />KidSCope is an early intervention program that offers services to young children who are <br />experiencing social, emotional, and /or behavioral difficulties. Main service components include <br />individual play therapy with children, customized counseling and education for families, <br />technical assistance and training for childcare providers, service coordination and a therapeutic <br />preschool program. <br />Literacy Council $11,000 <br />The Orange County Literacy Council provides. tuition -free instruction to adults who want to <br />• improve their skills in reading, writing, basic math and /or computer -based literacy. Trained <br />volunteers provide individual tutoring and lead small group classes in a variety of public settings. <br />�.J <br />Mental Health Association * $0 <br />The Mental Health Association in Orange County is dedicated to engaging with local citizens to <br />promote the mental health of our community and to improve the lives of our residents with <br />mental illnesses. <br />Middle School After School Program - Communities in Schools $57,000 <br />The Middle School After School Program (MSAS) provides educational, social and recreational <br />activities for middle school students during the after school hours. This program.is offered at all <br />middle schools in the Orange County and Chapel Hill - Carrboro City School Districts. <br />OE Enterprises $45,100 <br />Orange Enterprises provides vocational training and sheltered employment programs for <br />Orange County citizens who have employment barriers. <br />Orange Congregations in Mission (OCIM) $30,000 <br />This agency provides services to economically - challenged and homebound northern Orange <br />County residents through volunteer efforts of diverse congregations and individuals. <br />* Agencies denoted with an asterisk are new requests in FY 2010 -11. <br />5 <br />
