Outside Agency Descriptions - continued <br />Bridge II Sports * <br />$0 <br />Bridge II Sports' mission is to create opportunities for children and adults who are physically <br />disabled to play sports individually or on a team, helping them discover tenacity, confidence, <br />self- esteem and the joy of finding the player within. <br />Chapel Hill Police Department — Project Safe Orange * $0 <br />Project Safe Orange seeks to improve the quality of life for all residents of Orange County by <br />supporting a comprehensive strategy to reduce illegal gun, gang and violent crime throughout <br />the county. <br />Chapel Hill - Carrboro Meals on Wheels $1,000 <br />The Chapel Hill - Carrboro Meals on Wheels program uses volunteers to deliver nutritious <br />noonday meals with cheerful personal visits five days a week to those who are homebound or <br />recovering from surgery. In addition to delivering meals, volunteers bake homemade desserts <br />and help in the office, which is located in Binkley Baptist Church. <br />Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA/Boomerang * $0 <br />Boomerang seeks to engage disconnected youth and their community by providing a supportive <br />alternative environment for out of school time, offering resiliency based training for professionals <br />and other adults, and advocating for community change that has enduring benefits for all <br />adolescents. <br />Charles House $9,000 <br />Charles House is an adult day care facility located in Carrboro whose goals are to prolong the <br />independence of older adults with disabilities and to provide respite for their caregivers. The <br />facility has a capacity for 19 older adults and has had a waiting list since June of 2000. <br />Child Care Services Association <br />$0 <br />The Child Care Services Association seeks to ensure that affordable (no more than 10% of a <br />family's gross earning are used to purchase childcare for one child), accessible, high quality <br />childcare is available for all young children and their families. <br />Club Nova <br />$75,000 <br />The mission of Club Nova is to serve adults in Orange County living with severe and persistent <br />mental illness and provide them with structured daily activities, as well as social, vocational and <br />residential opportunities that they would not otherwise have. <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County $45,000 <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC) is a "stay -in- school" program that <br />coordinates human services delivery to middle school and high school youth and their families. <br />The goal of the agency is to offer students successful learning environments and encourage <br />them to stay in school and prepare for life. <br />" Agencies denoted with an asterisk are new requests in FY 2010 -11. <br />2 <br />I • <br />
