X44 <br />3 <br />funds to support the continuation of the Adolescents-In-Need Project 8. <br />She emphasized the major areas of the project. They would like to expand <br />the area of school dropouts and spend more time with the younger <br />adolescents. Idajor objectives include: (l) helping adolescents stay in <br />school to complete their education; (2) working with the children at home <br />to develop parenting skills, and (3) try to prevent a second pregnancy. <br />Eight students in the project graduated and found jobs. The <br />Adolescents-In-Need project has been funded for three years. by the <br />Children's Bureau in V)ashington and these funds will run out in June. <br />They will apply for funds from the state and other public agencies. <br />Compton requested a letter of support from the County Commissioners. <br />Reasons .for maintaining a separate project include: (1) flexibility in <br />meeting the needs; (2) able to determine and deal with the gaps instead of <br />being locked in; (3) better able to obtain outside funding and (~1) a <br />better reception if not attached to any specific agency. Compton <br />described a proposed budget to the Commissioners. <br />Commissioners [~Thitted and tarshall pledged their support to the <br />Adolescents--In-Need Project and commended the efforts of Betty Compton. <br />Commissioner whitted moved, Commissioner Marshall seconded the <br />support of the Project and transfer of the budget to the County Manager <br />for inclusion in the 1984-85 budget. Highway 86 across <br />from the present wood Brothers site known as lot number 27 of Tar. Map 45 - <br />Hillsborough Township from a R-l Residential classification to GC-4 <br />General Commercial-4. <br />tdike woods of Woods Brothers, Tnc., indicated that there is <br />sewer at the site and preferred not to extend the sewer across the road. <br />Collins indicated that the staff reports given at the public <br />hearing and the Planning Board meeting sited 4.2.11 of the Zoning <br />Ordinance which states that the district designation will be applied when <br />the following conditions exist: <br />1. The site is within an area designated as either Commercial or <br />Industrial Transition Activity Nodes, by the adopted Lana Use Plan; in Eno <br />or Hillsborough Townships. <br />The site is within the HB--4 Harmon Young node which is <br />designated in the Orange County Land Use Plan as a Commercial-Industrial <br />Activity Node and is located in Hillsborough Township. <br />2. water and sewer mains exist at the site or are to be made <br />available as part of the development process or the lot size for <br />individual uses is appropriate to the method of water supply and sewage <br />disposal. <br />~~r~ff_Cont: Water and sanitary sewer service could be provided by <br />tha Tncan of Hi1lGhnrrn~ah t,hrnnoh an axtan~inn of Yha far_ilitiPG <br />
