81
Authority to pursue in its waste management planning. HDR assisted the Authority in
preparation for evaluating various technologies by reviewing existing work on this topic and
identifying which conferences to attend to learn about the technologies that could be used in
pursuit of their goals. HDR also prepared a set of specific criteria with which to evaluate
each of the potential waste conversion technologies, focusing on function, impact, and
applicability. And HDR prepared a set of specific criteria with which to evaluate each of the
potential waste conversion technologies.
Salt Lake County Public Works, Salt Lake Valley Waste Planning, Salt Lake City, UT.
Project Engineer. Assisted the County in developing a master plan assessing the potential
diversion from landfill of materials handled by green waste processing operations, C & D
processing, a MRF, transfer station, and various conversion technologies.
Santa Cruz County, Long -Range Resource Recovery and Waste Management
Facilities. Project Engineer. Assisted the County in developing a master plan as their landfill
is closing and required other options for their waste materials. I assessed the potential
diversion of materials handled through green waste processing operations, C & D
processing, a MRF, transfer station, and a conversion technologies.
Solid Waste Management Plan - US Trade and Development Agency, Ajel, Algeria.
Project Manager. The City of Jij el, Algeria, wanted to improve their current solid waste
management system through the procurement of a modern solid waste collection system,
development of a new sanitary landfill, and environmental remediation of existing dump
sites. We examined different waste handling technologies to assist them with the most
economic means of handling their MSW. HDR examined the potential for developing new
solid waste collection, treatment, and disposal systems and implementing environmental
remediation measures at the existing measures.
Upper Valley Waste Management Authority, Clover Flat Landfill and Upper Valley
Disposal Service, Napa, CA. Project Manager. HDR/BVA provided professional consulting
services to assist the Upper Valley Waste Management Agency (UVA), in the Development
of Alternative Rate Methodologies for Clover Flat Landfill and Upper Valley Disposal
Service. HDR provided UVA with a report that documents the recommended rate
methodology, presents the status of issues and concerns, and identifies remaining areas of
disagreement, if any, that are critical to UVA and the franchisees.
Western Placer Waste Mgmt. Authority, WPWMA Plasma Arc Gasification Study,
Auburn, CA. Project Manager. Prepared an assessment of a proposal to the Authority to
build a facility to handle MSW through a Plasma Arc Gasification process.
World Waste Technologies, Inc., World Waste - T01 -4 - MW Richmond MSW
Transformation Energy Center, Richmond, CA. HDR assisted World Waste
Technologies in producing 20.4 MW of renewable power for delivery in the Richmond
MSW Transformation Energy Center for PG &E. By teaming with technology suppliers for
second generation gasification, WWT is able to take advantage of its unique technology
which extracts previously unrecoverable lignocelullose from post -sorted MSW that is
destined for the landfill. This technology has already been demonstrated at commercial scale
in its Anaheim facility for the production of 'wetlap for sale to recycle paper mills. As we
explore other commercial uses for our technology, we believe that it can be used for
production of a renewable biomass feedstock is perfectly suited as fuel for power production.
HDR performed Task Orders 1-4: MSW Processing, Design Development Program, MSW
Gasification Power Generating Design Development Program, marketing assistance, and the
Gasification Overview Report
Michael G.
