25
General Engineering and Environmental Management Services
experience we have developed a disciplined and responsive approach. Upon initiation of requested engineering
services from Orange County, the HDR Project Director, Mr. Readling, will immediately identify and assemble the correct
mix of skilled technical staff for the work. The assembled team will review the request, visit County staff /the site (as
appropriate), and develop an action plan and milestones for the work. In doing this up -front work, questions can be
raised, recommendations for improving the scope of work can be made, and a preliminary cost estimate can be
developed. Based on this information, the Project Director will develop a scope, schedule, and not -to- exceed cost
estimate.
Once the Task Order is approved, the Project Director will oversee the technical effort, working closely with the assigned
Project Task Manager and the Department staff, to ensure that the project assignment is completed to the satisfaction of
the County.
By working closely with our clients, we ensure project understanding and acceptance during all phases of each project.
Regular team meetings with internal technical staff, as well as milestone meetings with clients, allow the HDR team to
keep client interests at the forefront of each project as it develops from the conceptual plan into the final documents used
for construction. The HDR team prides itself on providing innovative solutions for all of our clients. Sometimes those
solutions are developed during client meetings. So listening and understanding the client's needs is paramount on any
given project. Some of our clients whose project examples show our commitment to using a flexible, collaborative
approach include:
• Winston - Salem, NC
• Greensboro, NC
• Wake County, NC
• Mecklenburg County, NC
Please refer to our Experience section for more specific details about the numerous projects we have completed for
these clients.
HDR's overall goal is to serve our clients in the best possible way by listening, scoping, monitoring, designing, and
implementing projects on time and within budget. To do this, HDR Project Task Managers are trained to identify client
goals and objectives through communication, define the scope of services accurately, control the flow of the project by
monitoring the staffing requirements, conduct project meetings, invoice correctly, and provide progress reports to the
client on a regular basis. Proper review of the project at milestone intervals, continuous client feedback, and
documentation of all project - related activities and decisions are critical to the success of a project. Once the project is
completed, the HDR Project Task Manager will make sure the project is closed out properly, including providing backup
files to the client and properly archiving the project so that, if issues arrive in the future, the project files can be retrieved
quickly.
HDR understands that the successful respondent will be required to show proof of professional liability insurance in
types and amounts satisfactory to the County, and cite any and all claims that have been filed against the professional
liability insurance carrier by the respondent within the past ten years.
Page 10 1 i \.
