Failure to do so <br /> would be a further violation of the ordinance subjecting the owner to criminal <br /> 1 <br /> or civil penalties. <br /> In a similar vein, Section XII D of the ordinance should be <br /> amended to read as follows in order to clorifv that impounded animals may be <br /> reclaimed by owners according to policies of the Animal Control Shelter- <br /> Section XII D. If after forty-eight (48) hours of the date of <br /> receipt by the owner or keeper of the notice the nuisance is not <br /> abated, the animal creating the nuisance shall be impounded. Any <br /> stray may be impounded .immediately upon the Health Director's <br /> determination that it is creating a nuisance as defined in this <br /> ordinance. After seven (7) calendar days of impoundment, the <br /> Shelter may allow the animal to be adopted or humanly destroyed <br /> according to its procedures.
