She asked what would become of any "baby" animals <br /> 6* born subs.equent to the ordinance passed by the Board. Commissioner <br /> 7. Whitted replied they would not be permitted under the ordinance. <br /> 8. The Health Director, Jerry Robinson, said he would mail out <br /> _ 9, copies of the caging survey completed by his department and the Health <br /> 10. Department. He added that zoologists specialists had been consulted <br /> 11. in drawing up the County's caging requirements. <br /> 12. This will be returned to the agenda of May 2nd. <br /> 13. 7. SOUTH ORANGE FIRE DISTRICT CONTRACT <br /> 14, Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Walker, <br /> 15* to approve the contract for fire protection for the South Orange Fire <br /> 16. District between the Town of Carrboro and Orange County. Vote: Ayes, <br /> 17. 5; noes, 0. <br /> 18• 9. SURPLUS FOOD DISTRIBUTION <br /> 19. Mr. Tom Ward, Social Services Director, reviewed the recommendations <br /> 20. for the distribution of surplus food to those eligible within the County. <br /> 21. (Please see the agenda abstract page for this item on page of this <br /> 22- book. ) Commissioner Marshall moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, <br /> 23• to: 1) Designate the Department of Social Services as lead agendy; <br /> 2) Authorize the Manager to arrange the support of other County <br /> 24, and volunteers from community agencies to administer the <br /> 25. program until more permanent plans can be laid; <br /> 3) Adopt the expanded eligibility guidelines; and, <br /> 4) Agree to a monthly distribution. <br /> 26. <br /> 27. Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> 28. 10. ARCHITECT CONTRACT--OLD COURTHOUSE <br /> 29. Commissioner Walker felt that the 9 3/4% architect's fee was <br /> too high; the Manager said this was the fee included in James Webb <br /> 30. <br /> Associates' presentation to the Board on the Old Courthouse and is con- <br /> 31. <br /> sistent with the State fee schedule. Mr. Roman Kolodju, architect with James Webb Psso- <br /> 32. <br /> ciates, reminded the Board that this is a historical building and the requirements which <br /> 33. _ <br /> p34 .pertain to it are more stringent that.those.to, for examine, the Northside School, <br /> 35• which is not an historic building. <br /> 360 Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Marshall , <br /> to approve the Manager's recommendation to award the contract for <br /> 37. <br /> the Old Courthouse restoration/renovation to James Webb and Associates <br /> 38. <br /> 39. <br /> 40. <br />
