2 <br />Wellness -Increased participation in wellness classes has generated fees totaling <br />$10,000. The department will use these funds to offset costs of course instructors <br />and materials. <br />Fit Feet Clinic -additional fees totaling $4,000 from increased participation in the <br />"Fit Feet" clinic. The additional revenue will provide for contracted services and <br />additional clinic supplies. <br />General Operation -United Way donation of $2,000, from the Friends of the <br />Seymour Center, for a blood pressure machine lease and other Wellness Program <br />expenses. <br />(See Attachment 1, column 3 and Attachment 3, Senior Citizen Health Promotion Grant <br />Project Ordinance.) <br />Economic Development (Value-Added Processing Center Capital Project Ordinance) <br />4. At its January 22, 2009 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved the <br />acceptance of two grant awards associated with the Piedmont Regional Value-Added- <br />Shared-Use Food and Agricultural Processing Center: (1) $479,000 form the Tobacco <br />Trust Fund Commission, and (2) $250,000 from the Golden Leaf Foundation. This <br />budget amendment provides for these grant funds in the attached capital project <br />ordinance. (See Attachment 4, Value-Added Processing Center Capital Project <br />Ordinance) <br />Board of Elections <br />5. The Orange County Board of Elections has received notification from the State Board of <br />Elections of the receipt of a grant award totaling $26,910 for the purchase of forty-five <br />(45) curbside assistance alert system at polling locations. This budget amendment <br />provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment <br />1, column 4) <br />Emergency Services Department <br />6. At its April 20, 2010 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved funds of up <br />to $112,000 from the Emergency Services Reserve Capital Project to the Emergency <br />Services Department to update and improve the Public Safety Communications <br />Infrastructure. This amendment provides for the budgeting of these funds in the <br />department's Fiscal Year 2009-10 budget for the above stated purpose. (See <br />Attachment 1, column 5) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve budget, grant and capital project ordinance amendments for Fiscal Year 2009-10. <br />
