Executive Summary of Changes <br />The Certified Sites Program's criteria and certification process were revised to incorporate <br />changes from a nationally- renowned site selection consultant, McCallum Sweeney Consulting, <br />and a stakeholder group of state, regional and local economic developers along with utility <br />providers and engineering consulting firms. The major changes to the program are <br />summarized. <br />Criteria: <br />• All materials are to be submitted online on the North Carolina Buildings and Sites Database. <br />• A program steering committee has been established - The steering committee meets every <br />other month to review applications - The steering committee: <br />o Approves sites / parks into the Certified Sites Program to complete documentation <br />requirements after reviewing the Intent to Certify form and recommendation from the <br />Technical Review Team <br />o Declares a site ( park a North Carolina Certified Site after a review of required <br />documentation and the recommendation of the Technical Review Team <br />o ,Periodically reviews program criteria for necessary updates <br />A Technical Review Committee, comprised of representatives of the Department of <br />Commerce with expertise in issues associated with the site certification process, has been <br />established - Members of this team will assist the Program coordinator in responding to <br />questions or concerns regarding site issues, will participate in visits, and will assist in making <br />recommendations to the Steering Committee. <br />Members of the Technical Review Committee include: <br />• Peggy Anderson, Senior Economic Development Representative <br />• Bruce Andrews, Senior Economic Development Representative <br />• Steve Brantley, Senior Economic Development Representative <br />• Paul Jordan, Environmental Consultant <br />• George Sherrill, Section Chief, Community Development Block Grant Program, <br />Commerce Finance Center <br />Certified Sites Program <br />2 NC Department of Commerce — <br />
